Park Sae-ro-yi is a fiercely principled high-school student who is expelled after striking the spoiled heir of a conglomerate for bullying a classmate—and who then loses his father to a hit-and-run involving that same family. The conglomerate is Jangga, a food-service empire ruled by a tyrannical chairman, and the boy is left an ex-convict with nothing but his convictions. Refusing to bow or kneel, Sae-ro-yi spends years sharpening his resolve before opening a modest pub called DanBam in the vibrant, multicultural district of Itaewon. Together with Jo Yi-seo—a brilliant, sociopathic young manager—and a band of misfit colleagues who don't fit society's mold, he sets out to grow his tiny bar into a force capable of toppling Jangga, pursuing both revenge and success without ever compromising who he is.

Park Sae-ro-yi es un estudiante de secundaria de firmes principios que es expulsado tras golpear al malcriado heredero de un conglomerado por acosar a un compañero, y que luego pierde a su padre en un atropello vinculado a esa misma familia. El conglomerado es Jangga, un imperio de la restauración gobernado por un presidente tiránico, y el joven queda convertido en exconvicto sin más que sus convicciones.
